Effingham County deputies will verify registered sex offenders’ residences and check compliance with registration requirements from Oct. 26 through Nov. 2 as part of a statewide operation.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office will participate in Operation Watchful Eye for the 11th year.
Authorities say the checks are intended to track offenders’ movements and enforce registration rules.
The operation includes residence verifications, compliance checks and arrests of registered offenders found to be noncompliant.
During last year’s operation, the sheriff’s office reported two arrests and two warrants issued.
