A five-touchdown game by New Hampstead’s Christian Kinlaw and Benedictine’s 50-0 shutout of Wayne County were among the performances recognized by the Savannah Quarterback Club for Weeks 9 and 10.
Kinlaw rushed for 184 yards and scored five times as New Hampstead beat Windsor Forest 40-35 in Week 9. Thomas Holland recorded 10 tackles, ran for 97 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Hornets in their 42-14 win over Frederica Academy. The club has named Holland a player of the week four times during his high school career.
In Week 10, Benedictine defeated Wayne County 50-0. Omari Burse completed 9 of 11 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Issac Scott contributed nine tackles and two sacks.
Holland said his fourth recognition meant as much to him as his first. Kinlaw described the opportunity to speak to people who watch high school football as “just a blessing.” Burse said being selected mattered to him, and Scott said winning the award was a goal for the season and that he hoped to earn another.
