Ernest Ferguson, a former Savannah police officer, testified Monday as he sought to have the felony murder charge connected to the 2022 on-duty shooting death of Saudi Lee dismissed.
Ferguson’s defense presented props and body-camera footage to support its argument that Lee appeared to be holding a gun and posed an active threat.
Prosecutors challenged that account during cross-examination, arguing Lee never threatened Ferguson. They also questioned Ferguson about the weapon’s direction and inaccuracies in his initial incident report compared with the video evidence.
The immunity hearing was scheduled to continue Tuesday with additional testimony. No later ruling was reported.
