JESUP, Ga. — Two Jesup women have been arrested after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said they agreed to falsely accuse a Wayne County sheriff’s deputy of sexually assaulting them during ride-alongs.
Trinity Bradley, 20, and Karlee Mooney, 18, each face one felony count of false statements, one felony count of conspiracy to commit the crime of false statements and one misdemeanor count of falsely reporting a crime, according to the GBI’s November 2 release.
The arrests followed an investigation requested by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office on September 30, 2026, after the women made allegations against the deputy. Their complaints alleged that the deputy sexually assaulted them while on duty.
According to the GBI, preliminary findings indicate Bradley and Mooney agreed that each would falsely report being sexually assaulted by the deputy during ride-alongs. Investigators allege both women made multiple false statements to the sheriff’s office and the GBI.
The sheriff’s office placed the deputy on administrative leave while investigators examined the allegations. The GBI did not identify the deputy in its release or announce whether the deputy has returned to duty.
Mooney was arrested Monday, November 2, and Bradley turned herself in that day, the GBI said. Both women were booked into the Wayne County Jail.
The release did not provide bond information or announce court dates for either woman. The charges are allegations, and both women are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The GBI said its investigation remains active. Once the investigation is complete, agents will submit the case file to the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the GBI’s Kingsland Regional Investigative Office at 912-729-6198. Anonymous tips may be submitted by calling 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), using the GBI’s online tip form or downloading the See Something, Send Something mobile app.
