According to initial information provided to News Now Georgia, Long County Fire requested a medical helicopter to respond to the recreation department while firefighters worked to provide lifesaving aid to the injured person.
Long County EMS reportedly did not have an ambulance available for the call at that time. Responders were attempting to secure an ambulance from neighboring Liberty, Wayne or Tattnall counties.
As of 12:12 p.m., Long County firefighters were continuing efforts to save the person’s life while working with limited medical resources and seeking additional emergency medical assistance.
