Robert Alan Herndon was convicted by a Glynn County jury in a child sexual-abuse case, and a Superior Court judge sentenced him to concurrent 50-year terms followed by life on probation, the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office said. The verdict was returned Oct. 28, 2026, in case CR-2400213.

The jury found Herndon guilty of three counts of aggravated child molestation, one count of aggravated sexual battery and one count of incest. The prison terms are to be served concurrently in the Georgia Department of Corrections before the life probation term begins.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation began June 4, 2024, after the victim, who was an adult when she made the report, said the abuse started in 2017, when she was 12. Investigators arrested Herndon on June 24, 2024, and served felony warrants while the investigation continued.

Investigator Sara DeMonbrun’s work included collecting witness accounts, documentary records, digital information and materials returned under search warrants. The sheriff’s office is not identifying the victim because the case involved sexual abuse of a minor. The office also credited witnesses, partner agencies and court personnel for their assistance in the investigation and prosecution.
