The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy John Walter Saunders, badge No. 420, has died. Saunders, known to colleagues as Walt, volunteered with the office for years before joining as a deputy jailer.
The office remembered Saunders for his willingness to help and his humor. It asked people to keep his family, friends and sheriff’s office colleagues in their thoughts and prayers.
The announcement did not include a date of death or funeral or memorial arrangements.
