Bulloch Academy’s 8-1 football team can close its regular season at 9-1 with a win Friday, when the Gators host Frederica Academy (3-6) at 7 p.m. The home finale is also Senior Night, with 15 seniors set to be recognized. Statesboro High travels to Evans, while Southeast Bulloch and Portal have bye weeks.
The Gators have won five straight. Their latest victory was a 53-0 road shutout of St. Andrews, with Bulloch Academy leading 39-0 at halftime. Coach Aaron Phillips said the team understands that Senior Night is a milestone, not the end of its work. Bulloch Academy is coming off a 2024 state championship and an Elite Eight appearance last season.
Statesboro (4-3) visits Evans (3-4) after its bye week. The Blue Devils won 43-20 at Evans last season. After a loss to Richmond Academy, coach Matt Dobson said the team focused during the break on tackling, finishing runs and improving its short-yardage execution.
Dobson described Evans as a team that uses steady rushing gains to sustain drives. He also said the Knights’ defense limits explosive plays, making ball security and converting scoring chances priorities for Statesboro. The Blue Devils will also need to tackle well and get off the field on third down.
Statesboro’s game is listed on 107.7 FM, and Bulloch Academy’s is listed on 99.7 FM. Southeast Bulloch football is listed on 106.5 FM.
