Guyton Mayor Pro Tem Michael Johnson is taking on the mayor’s duties after Andy Harville resigned Oct. 15, City Manager Bill Lindsey said. The city cannot hold a special election to fill the seat before March 16, 2027, Lindsey said, citing the county elections office.

Lindsey attributed Harville’s resignation to health reasons. March 16 is the earliest possible election date, not a confirmed date for the vote.
