Perry Edwards was booked into the Bulloch County Jail on Oct. 29 in connection with Betty Jean King’s death, more than 11 years after she was found dead at her George Road residence. The sheriff’s office says Edwards is being held while awaiting arraignment.
King was found on June 6, 2015, with multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office.
District Attorney Catherine Sumner formally charged Edwards with Malice Murder, three counts of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery and False Imprisonment.
The sheriff’s office says investigators established probable cause against Edwards. Arrest warrants were issued June 16, 2026, and the Bulloch County Grand Jury indicted him on Sept. 20, 2026.
Investigators and crime scene technicians continued reviewing witness statements and physical evidence over the years after the case went cold, the sheriff’s office said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lieutenant Walter Deal at (912) 764-1788.
