Glynn County commissioners unanimously adopted an amendment repealing the county code’s “Domestic Animals” chapter and replacing it with a new Chapter 2-4, “Animal Control,” at their Oct. 1 meeting. The minutes identify the measure as Ordinance No. O-2026-09 but do not state when it takes effect.

The board had held a public hearing on the ordinance Aug. 20, then deferred its decision to review public input and make revisions before returning to the measure in October.

Animal Services Director Lori Austin described elements of the revised proposal, including a dog-licensing requirement with no fee. She also outlined revisions involving vaccination age and identification, along with provisions allowing supervised, single-point tethering for limited periods.

No one signed up to speak during the Oct. 1 public-comment period.
