Georgia returns to Eastern Standard Time at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, when clocks reset to 1 a.m. The statewide change repeats the hour between 1 and 2, extending the overnight period by an hour.

Most smartphones, computers and other devices connected to the internet should adjust automatically. Older clocks, appliances and some vehicle clocks may require a manual change. After the switch, mornings will have more daylight while evening darkness arrives earlier.

The change follows the federal schedule, which sets the end of daylight saving time for 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November, according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The next period of daylight saving time is scheduled to begin March 14, 2027. Clocks will move forward from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. that day.

A bill has not changed the schedule

The U.S. House approved the Sunshine Protection Act of 2025, also known as H.R. 139, by a 308-117 vote on July 14, 2026. The proposal would make daylight saving time the year-round standard in most states that currently observe it.

The Senate received the bill the following day and referred it to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. It still needs Senate approval and must become law before it can change Georgia’s clock schedule.

If enacted in its current form, the bill would keep Georgia on daylight saving time through winter rather than returning to standard time each November. That would bring more evening daylight in winter, but mornings would be darker. Until the legislation advances and becomes law, Georgia will continue switching clocks under the existing federal rules.
