Chatham County’s preliminary weighted suspension rate for school year 2027 is 4.60, below the official SY26 rate of 7.15 but higher than the official SY25 rate of 4.07. The district is scheduled to present the figure to the Board of Education on Nov. 4.

The SY27 number is based on PowerSchool data from August through Oct. 14, 2026. Its October figures cover only Oct. 1–14, so the 4.60 rate is preliminary and reflects a partial school-year reporting period.

The agenda lists the rate under informational reports and describes the item as an informal board meeting presentation. The presentation defines the rate as a weighted measure of in-school suspensions, out-of-school suspensions, alternative placements and expulsion referrals reported in PowerSchool. Lower values indicate fewer or less severe actions.

The meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the Jessie Collier Deloach Board Room, Whitney Administrative Complex, Building G, 2 Laura Avenue, Savannah.
