Photographs of Savannah are being sought for a time capsule the city is preparing to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary. The deadline to submit an image for the “Savannah as I See It 2026” photo album is Friday, Nov. 20, 2026, at 5 p.m.
Professional and amateur photographers are eligible to submit photos, and each submission must include the required form. The City of Savannah says residents can contribute materials reflecting the city in 2026. Its announcement also lists youth from pre-K through 12th grade and artists as participant groups, but does not detail their submission categories.
The city plans to dedicate the capsule in December and place it inside the Savannah City Hall rotunda. The exact dedication date was not provided.
Savannah plans to open the capsule in 2076 as part of the United States’ 300th anniversary. Materials will then be replaced with a new collection intended to be opened in 2126. For more information about participating, the city directs residents to contact its Office of Municipal Archives & History.
