The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications through Nov. 16 for a 2027 career program that will include a base on Jekyll Island.
The weeklong Career Academy is designed for rising high school juniors and seniors interested in natural-resources work.
The academy is scheduled for July 18-24, 2027, with activities based at the Jekyll 4-H Center on Jekyll Island and the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center in Mansfield.
Students will also travel to locations around Georgia, including state parks, wildlife management areas, fish hatcheries, historic sites and coastal destinations.
Career areas include conservation law enforcement, wildlife and fisheries management, habitat stewardship, state park operations and coastal conservation.
Participants can meet DNR employees and learn about their career paths. They may also be eligible for dual-enrollment credit that can apply to Fish and Wildlife or Conservation programs at many technical colleges.
DNR Commissioner Walter Rabon encouraged eligible students to apply, saying the program offers hands-on learning with experienced professionals and a closer look at careers in the department. Applications must be submitted online by Nov. 16, 2026.
