Long County commissioners voted 5-0 on Sept. 24 to ask the state to move the County’s regional commission membership from one regional body to another.
Resolution 2026-08 petitions the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to transfer Long County from the Coastal Regional Commission to the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Commission.
The Board said the proposed change would better serve the County’s service needs, geographic considerations and community priorities.
Commissioner Craft made the motion to adopt the petition, and Commissioner Reddish seconded it. The vote approved the petition, not the transfer itself.
No Department of Community Affairs decision or transfer date was included in the materials reviewed.
