Long County commissioners voted to establish a screening policy for people seeking appointment or reappointment to county boards and other appointed bodies.
The policy calls for applicants to give written consent to a criminal background check when allowed by law.
The board approved Resolution 2026-05 by a 5-0 vote during a special called meeting on Sept. 24, 2026.
Vice Chairman Blocker made the motion, and Commissioner Strickland seconded it.
The resolution covers applicants to county boards, authorities, commissions, committees and other appointed bodies.
The policy’s effective date was not stated.
