Guyton City Council is scheduled to consider a proposed process for Flock searches at a special meeting Thursday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m. at Guyton City Hall. The agreement has not been approved.
The draft memorandum of understanding, proposed by the Effingham County 911 Communications Center, would put Effingham County 911 in charge of conducting searches requested by the Guyton Police Department.
Police requests would be routed through the county agency, and Guyton police personnel would receive training on appropriate use.
The proposal limits searches to requests from authorized personnel of a participating agency.
County 911 would handle requests as staffing and operational priorities permit, provide results as received without interpretation or investigative analysis, and keep request records when agency policy or law requires it.
The center could reject requests it believes conflict with applicable law, policy or Flock Safety’s terms of use. Personal searches and other unauthorized inquiries would be prohibited.
The council had initially planned to discuss the agreement Oct. 13, but tabled the matter. Thursday’s session is the rescheduled opportunity to consider whether to approve the MOU.
