LIBERTY COUNTY — The Liberty County Board of Commissioners approved $25,000 for the local Boys and Girls Club to support youth prevention programs.

The total includes $5,000 from Drug Abuse Treatment and Education funds and $20,000 from opioid-settlement funds. Officials emphasized that the money comes from restricted fines, forfeitures and legal settlements rather than the county’s general property-tax revenue.

Club representatives said the funding will be used in Liberty County to provide young people with a safe environment and programming focused on drug and alcohol prevention.
