Clothing company ordered to pay Buc-ee’s $850,000 in trademark case

A South Carolina clothing company has been ordered to pay Buc-ee’s $850,000 after a federal trademark dispute involving merchandise that used a beaver design resembling the travel-center chain’s well-known logo.

Born United and its owners were sued by Buc-ee’s in 2025 over apparel and other merchandise featuring a tactical-style beaver design marketed as “Tac-Bucc.”

The parties entered a consent judgment that requires Born United to stop using the disputed design or any confusingly similar mark. The company must also destroy infringing merchandise and related marketing materials.

The judgment includes damages tied to trademark infringement, false designation of origin, unfair competition and unjust enrichment. Both sides waived appeal rights under the agreement.
