A Vidalia man has been arrested following an investigation into suspected online child sexual abuse material, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The GBI announced Thursday, August 20, that Stewart Jon Reaves, 33, was charged with one count of sexual exploitation of children.
Agents with the agency’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit began investigating Reaves’ online activity in April 2025.

According to the GBI, the investigation followed a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning the possible online possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Reaves was arrested Wednesday, August 19, and booked into the Toombs County Jail. The Vidalia Police Department assisted with the investigation.

The case is part of the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force’s continuing effort to identify people allegedly involved in obtaining or distributing illegal material involving minors.

The announced charge is an allegation and does not constitute a conviction. Reaves is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Authorities did not identify any child or disclose whether investigators believe a child from the Vidalia area was involved. No additional charges had been announced as of Friday morning.

Anyone with information about suspected child exploitation may contact the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit at 404-270-8870. Reports may also be submitted through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline.

Anonymous information can be provided through the GBI tip line at 1-800-597-TIPS, the agency’s online form or its See Something, Send Something mobile application.
