More than 100 vendors took part as Savannah’s 27th annual Pride Festival concluded Saturday at Forsyth Park. Attendance had been projected at about 5,000, with visitors expected to explore services and resources available across the region; no final attendance count was reported.

This year’s theme was “Chosen Family: Love Beyond Fear.” Savannah Pride Center executive director Michael Bell said the festival is both a celebration and a way for LGBTQIA+ people to find community in Savannah. The organization has been active for nearly three decades and serves people across Coastal Georgia and beyond.

A sensory-conscious market was part of the program, alongside local drag performers, DJs, live entertainment, games, activities and food trucks. Club One comedian Blair Williams and Chi Chi Bonet Sherrington returned as hosts. The celebration also included a glow-and-foam party.

Bell said the center’s work continues throughout the year. “The festival is one day, but the community we serve exists 365 days a year,” he said, noting that people may later seek help with finding a doctor, counseling, housing assistance or HIV prevention services.
