Franklin Square and nearby Savannah blocks were documented during a photo walk on Friday, Oct. 30, with the Haitian monument and First African Baptist Church among the landmarks featured.

The square’s iron marker and gated monument are also part of the record. Visitors stopped at the monument, and a view from City Market looks toward the square. First African Baptist Church overlooks the square; a stained-glass window at the church depicts the Rev. George Leile.

The walk extended into surrounding streets, including views of The Rail Pub, The Darling Oyster Bar, Vinnie Van GoGo’s and nearby storefronts. The photo feature was published Nov. 5.
