Administrative Law Judge Kim Schroer ruled that Democratic nominee David Dillie is qualified to run for Georgia House District 161 in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. The ruling resolves a challenge to Dillie’s eligibility ahead of the vote.
State election officials challenged Dillie over allegations that he voted in Nevada’s June primary. A Georgia Secretary of State’s Office spokesperson said the office found evidence he voted; Dillie said he did not cast the ballot. Schroer found that Dillie did not vote in Nevada’s June 9, 2026, primary and did not lose his Georgia residency.
Schroer also found that Hunter Cain unlawfully opened Dillie’s absentee ballot, which had been mailed to an Arlington Avenue address. The judge found that Cain, or someone he directed or controlled, signed and submitted the ballot.
District 161 voters’ listed choices on Nov. 3 are Dillie, incumbent Republican Rep. Bill Hitchens or a write-in.
