Savannah State’s defense faces the SIAC’s most productive rushing team Saturday as the Tigers try to end a three-game losing streak on the road against Benedict College.
Benedict, tied for second in the conference, averages 206 rushing yards per game. Savannah State allows 123 yards on the ground per game.
Sophomore defensive lineman Adonis Brazil leads the SIAC with eight sacks. His 12 tackles for loss leave him half a tackle short of the conference lead in that category. Howard praised Brazil’s “relentless mentality” and said he has gained a “better understanding” of the team’s defensive calls.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Charles W. Johnson Stadium.
