With Georgia’s Nov. 3 general election six days away, Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson campaigned in Thunderbolt on Wednesday, Oct. 28, alongside Gov. Brian Kemp and former Gov. Sonny Perdue. More than 100 people attended the rally at Coach’s Corner on Victory Drive.

Perdue urged Georgians to vote, with particular emphasis on rural communities. He also criticized Jackson’s Democratic opponent, former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, pointing to her leadership of the city as a reason voters should oppose her bid for governor.

Jackson said he wanted to help people facing hardship, including people without jobs and young adults who leave foster care after aging out. He described his goal as helping them find ways to improve their situations.

Kemp criticized Democrats over national issues, saying they promote open borders and caused record-high inflation. He argued that Bottoms would bring those policies to Georgia. Kemp also cited the state’s 3.2% unemployment rate and $1 billion in property tax relief as reasons to vote for Jackson.
