A shrimp boat at Sea Gardens dock in McIntosh County was declared a total loss after a Monday night fire, the McIntosh County Volunteer Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded and attempted to salvage the vessel, but it could not be saved. In a social media post Tuesday morning, the department noted that many people in the community depend on water-related work for their livelihoods.
