Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America is giving $150,000 to two United Way chapters serving the Coastal Empire and Southeast Georgia.
United Way of the Coastal Empire is set to receive $100,000, while United Way of Southeast Georgia will receive $50,000.
Chapter leaders and HMGMA officials presented the donation Wednesday, Oct. 21.
It is the second time the company has given the two chapters $150,000.
The Coastal Empire chapter plans to distribute its share through its community fund, including support for its 211 information and referral service.
The service connects families in crisis with a specialist who helps them navigate resources at dozens of regional nonprofits.
People seeking help finding resources can call 211 to reach a local specialist.
Carey Cassedy, executive director of United Way of Southeast Georgia, said the contribution is the chapter’s largest corporate gift. Kimberly Waller, president and CEO of United Way of the Coastal Empire, said the donation will also help the chapter continue supporting nonprofits.
HMGMA chief administrative officer Brent Stubbs said backing United Way is part of the company’s effort to become integrated into Bryan County and support people served by the organizations.
