McIntosh County commissioners have sent a zoning question to the county Planning and Zoning Commission:

should certain data-processing and hosting businesses need special-use permits in four districts?

On Sept. 8, the board approved Resolution 2026-13, requesting a public hearing and recommendations on whether such requirements should be implemented.

The resolution itself did not establish a permit rule.

The resolution covers data processing, hosting and related services identified under NAICS codes 518 and 519.

It names the General Commercial, Commercial Interchange, Light Industrial and General Industrial districts.

The board’s regular meeting began at 10 a.m. at Darien City Hall. County Manager Jordan explained the resolution.

Commissioner Hope moved its approval, Commissioner Poole seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.

The Planning and Zoning Commission is to hold the requested public hearing before making recommendations about implementing any permit requirements.

The Sept. 8 meeting materials give no hearing date and document no recommendation or later adoption.
