A proposal to rezone about 99 acres on Old River Road is returning to the Effingham County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 20 after commissioners postponed it earlier this month.

If approved, the request would change the property at 1180 Old River Road from AR-1 to LI to allow uses permitted under the LI designation.

The Planning Board recommends approval of the application, which Boltin Teeter submitted as agent for Mark Cooper.

The county agenda identifies the property as Map 304, Parcel 10, in the First District.

Commissioners postponed the matter Oct. 6. Their tentative regular meeting on Oct. 20, 2026, begins at 5 p.m.; the rezoning is listed under unfinished Planning Board business scheduled for 6 p.m.

The agenda includes a public hearing item and consideration of the application’s second reading. The proposed zoning change remains pending before the commission.
