Effingham County commissioners are scheduled to consider accepting a $289,692 state highway safety grant for the Sheriff’s Office H.E.A.T. Project at their Oct. 20 meeting.

The proposed award is from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

It appears on the tentative agenda for the Board of Commissioners’ regular meeting, set for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026.

The agenda identifies the award as grant number GA-2027+EffinghamSO-076.

It does not describe how the Sheriff’s Office would use the money.

Listing the item for consideration does not mean commissioners have voted to accept the grant.
