Drivers in Candler County were advised to avoid part of Watson Road Wednesday evening as firefighters responded to a residential structure fire. Metter Fire Rescue reported the closure extended from Stocking Head Road to Portal Highway while crews worked to put out the fire.
Officials asked motorists to use alternate routes and stay out of the closed section so responders could work safely. The report did not state a cause, mention injuries or give an expected reopening time.
