Glynn County commissioners unanimously approved a request to rezone three Christ Church Frederica properties on St. Simons Island into a new Planned Development District.

The action was taken at the commission’s Sept. 3 meeting, which began at 6 p.m.

The properties are at 6329 Frederica Road, 6500 Frederica Road and 36 Stevens Road.

The proposal would replace their mix of Conservation Preservation, One Family Residential (R-12) and Planned Development District classifications with one district intended to consolidate uses and standards and allow uses compatible with Christ Church Frederica.

Planning and Zoning Director Stefanie Leif presented background materials, including maps, a master plan and the proposed district text.

The Islands Planning Commission had recommended approval by a 5-0 vote. During the county public hearing, Chris Jordan spoke in support of the application; the meeting record says no one spoke against it.

Commissioner Bob Duncan moved to approve application ZM-26-16 as presented, with Commissioner Sammy Tostensen seconding.

The board approved it unanimously and recorded the action as Resolution R-56-26. The minutes do not specify when the new zoning takes effect.
