Statesboro-area child care providers can meet Georgia’s early-learning agency staff and take part in educational sessions Oct. 29, when the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning brings a regional road show to Georgia Southern University’s CPE Center.
Registration opens at 8:15 a.m. A plenary session is scheduled for 9 a.m., followed by breakout sessions at 10 a.m. The exhibition hall is scheduled to run from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
DECAL is organizing the road shows with Child Trends. Along with agency updates and educational sessions, each stop will include a Child Trends focus group to gather information about child care providers’ needs.
Participants at the Statesboro event can choose two breakout sessions. Listed topics include a Child Trends needs assessment, Quality Rated, Child Care Services, The New GELDS, behavior support and criminal records checks.
The exhibition hall is expected to feature more than a dozen information tables representing DECAL program areas.
Providers can meet agency staff, ask about programs and initiatives, and learn about available services and resources.
DECAL oversees Georgia’s Pre-K, child care licensing, CAPS, nutrition programs and Head Start collaboration, along with statewide quality-improvement efforts.
