David Dillie says voters in Georgia House District 161 are focused on affordability, including rent and wages, rising property taxes and access to hospitals.

The Democratic candidate also says younger residents should have a voice in long-range decisions affecting the district.

Dillie described plans that could shape the area over the next 25 to 40 years and said younger generations should be represented in those decisions.

He identified the cost of living as a concern raised by younger voters, while older residents have raised property taxes and the time it can take to reach a hospital.

Data center development is another issue in Dillie’s campaign. He said he is considering whether a pause or moratorium could be pursued at the state level.

This interview adds Dillie’s campaign priorities and his account of voters’ concerns.

Our earlier report covered the open investigations in Georgia and Nevada into whether he voted in both states’ primaries.

Those investigations remain unresolved in the reporting reviewed for this article.

Dillie is challenging Republican incumbent Bill Hitchens in the Nov. 3 election. The district includes parts of Chatham and Effingham counties.
