RICHMOND HILL, Ga. — The Interstate 95 northbound exit ramp to U.S. Highway 17/State Route 25 at Exit 87 is fully closed overnight as crews conduct resurfacing work in Bryan County.

Georgia Department of Transportation traffic records show the ramp closure is scheduled to remain in place until approximately 2 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9. The adjacent right northbound lane of I-95 is also blocked and is expected to reopen around 1 a.m.

Drivers traveling north who need to reach U.S. 17 should continue to Exit 90 at State Route 144 and follow posted detour signs. Motorists should expect delays near the Richmond Hill exits and move into an open lane before reaching the work zone.
The closure is part of a larger resurfacing project extending from south of Exit 87 in Bryan County to just south of the I-16 interchange in Chatham County.

Contractors are closing one ramp at a time to resurface the ramps and adjoining gore areas—the triangular sections of pavement separating interstate lanes from entrance and exit ramps. The overnight work generally takes place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. at Exits 87 and 90, according to GDOT’s Southeast Georgia office.

Additional overnight ramp closures and detours are expected as the resurfacing project continues. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules may change.

Drivers should slow down, remain alert and watch for workers, equipment and changing traffic patterns.
