A driver struck multiple Savannah police cruisers during a traffic stop on I-516 Thursday, closing multiple lanes. An officer and the detained person were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Savannah Police Department said officers were conducting the stop when another driver hit their vehicles. Officials said EMS transported the officer and the detained person to a local hospital for treatment.
In the report’s latest account, traffic remained blocked near Veterans Parkway and Lynes Parkway for drivers heading toward DeRenne Avenue as emergency personnel and investigators worked at the scene. Drivers were advised to take alternate routes.
