Music and themes from The Sound of Music will shape an Oct. 18 worship service at Asbury Memorial Church in Savannah. The free service is part of the church’s “God on Broadway” series, which connects Broadway productions with scripture and preaching.

The musical’s themes of courage, love and faith will inform this installment. Minister of music Ray Ellis will direct the Asbury Choir, and senior pastor Rev. Billy Hester will preach using biblical texts and the musical’s story as inspiration.

The service is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 18, at Asbury Memorial Church, 1008 East Henry Street, Savannah, GA 31401. The series takes place on Sundays throughout October, and the events are free and open to the public.
