HINESVILLE, Ga. — Several neighborhoods, Liberty County High School and the Performing Arts Center are under a boil-water advisory Thursday after a water main break along Highway 84 caused water outages and low pressure in parts of Hinesville.

The City of Hinesville issued the advisory September 3 as a precaution for customers who may have lost water service or experienced a significant drop in water pressure.

The advisory currently includes:

– Cassels Court
– Simms Way
– Rosin Road
– Parkers at McLarry’s Curve
– Liberty County High School
– The Performing Arts Center
– The entire Baconfield subdivision

City officials said the water main break may have caused pressure within portions of the water system to fall to very low levels.

When a water system loses pressure, there is a possibility that contaminants can enter the system. The city emphasized that the advisory is precautionary and does not mean contamination has been confirmed.

Residents in the affected areas who experienced an outage or low water pressure are advised to use bottled water or boiled tap water for drinking, cooking and food preparation.

Tap water should be brought to a full boil and allowed to boil for at least one minute before being removed from the heat and allowed to cool.

Residents should continue following the boil-water precautions until the City of Hinesville announces that the advisory has been lifted.

As of Thursday afternoon, the city had not announced when the advisory would end.
