Houstin Schlernitzauer, Christian Shuman and Matthew Hankey, all Richmond Hill residents, were formally charged in court Wednesday over burglaries at a former Thunderbolt nursing home. The indictments allege theft and damage at the property.

The alleged loss exceeds $1,500 and includes electronics and wheelchairs, according to the indictments. The theft is alleged to have happened sometime between June 27 and July 14 at the former Thunderbolt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, also called the Tara Nursing Home. The three are accused of causing more than $500 in damage to walls and ceilings.

Each is charged with burglary in the second degree. The other charges shared by all three are theft by taking, criminal trespass and criminal damage to property in the second degree. Hankey also faces a charge of obstruction of an officer.

The court charges follow their July arrests, which Thunderbolt Police Chief Gene Harley reported that month. Thunderbolt detectives found the three and carried out a search warrant at their hotel room. The Richmond Hill Police Department and Bryan County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
